On Saturday we drove to Cumberland, in beautiful Western Maryland, with our bikes in the back of the van.
An old man loaded our bikes into a train car.
"Careful, you clumsy fool!" I snarled at him.
I am nostalgic when it comes to trains. Nothing like a good ol' steam engine!
This is NOT a look of pretend interest, Betsy. It is a look of focusing on holding my main chin up so that the camera will not capture my other chins.
The train took us to tiny, beautiful Frostburg.
We ate lunch at the Princess Diner. (Betsy, that definitely IS a look of pretend interest on Josh's face.)
Then rode our bikes 15 miles back down to Cumberland, on the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail. A gentle, downhill grade the whole way. How sweet is that?
Was it beautiful?
Yes, it was.
Was I happy?
Yes.
Happier than I have been in months.
I've been wanting to do that! It looks great; glad you had fun.

Oh, man, that just sounds so nice. Wonderful photos. After the slog of working and worrying about aging parents, I know just how you feel, getting away from it all and having a wonderful adventure in beautiful surroundings.

It does look like a beautiful trip! I know what you mean about camera angles. I'm very careful now to keep my head a bit down to minimize chin action. Glad it was a happy experience. :)

Very Nice ! I love that pic of you and Josh has gotten the look of pretend interest down pat. The old guy lifting the bikes still kind of bothers me but it looks like he is made of stern stuff. The steam engines are fabulous and I love trains anyway. Well done you nature lovers.

You look happy and your chin looks solitary. The scenery is beautiful.

Main chin -- that's awesome. Mind if I use it? I'm pretty sure you only have the one, though. Your train/bike trip looks heavenly.

My other chin just arrived, and I don't even remember ordering it.

Mary,
Steam train, bikes, green mountains.
My husband's perfect trip. And yes, when did my chin and neck decide to go their own way?

Looks like a great trip!

Beautiful scenery! Looks like you had fun. What a cool idea, taking the train and then riding back.

What a perfect day.
Trains and bikes. Downhill bikes.
The diner was the bonus round.

What a gorgeous view you had on your ride.
Glad you were happy ... you more than deserve it, kiddo.

You snarled at the conductor in his cute hat? Why didn't you ask him to sing "She'll be Comin' Round the Mountain When she Comes"? Sheesh!
